Mexicue started about a decade ago as a Brooklyn-based food truck blending the best of Southern barbecue and soul food with Mexican street cuisine. Now the restaurant has branched out to include brick-and-mortar locations, with the newest one opening its doors in Logan Circle. The atmosphere and service here have both garnered rave reviews from locals on sites like UrbanSpoon and Yelp, and the menu showcases unique dishes like the Nashville hot chicken tacos, a barbecue pork rice bowl, and chicken and chorizo Mexican jambalaya burritos.
If you’re just stopping by for drinks, prepare to be impressed by the selection of mezcal and agave spirits, in addition to a range of house margaritas, sangria, and beer on tap. The bar’s happy hour specials (4 to 7 on weekdays) include $4 cans of Tecate, $6 house wine, and discounted margaritas.
