Patriot Nations: Native Americans in Our Nation’s Armed Forces at the National Museum of the American Indian Opening January 21st

Patriot Nations: Native Americans in our Nation’s Armed Forces is a new exhibition being held at the National Museum of the American Indian. Opening January 21st, it will tell the story of the American Indian and Alaska Native men and women who have served in the United States military. Largely unrecognized, Native peoples have played an integral part in every American military encounter from the Revolutionary War to today’s conflicts in the Middle East. In this exhibition, rarely seen photographs and artifacts will be on display, highlighting the history and accomplishments of this group of people.

The Patriot Nations exhibit will also officially announce the National Native American Veterans Memorial, which will be placed at the National Museum of the American Indian on the National Mall. The memorial will honor the contributions and patriotism of all Native Americans. The expected dedication of this memorial to Native heroes will be on Veterans Day 2020.
