Learn About the History of Journalism in America at the “Inside Media” Series at the Newseum

A vibrant and free press is a prerequisite to modern democracy, so it should be no surprise that the Newseum sprung up alongside other monuments, archives, and memorials to our nation’s history in Washington, DC. But the Newseum is more than just a series of exhibits and displays; it also hosts lectures, roundtables, and special events featuring historians, academics, authors and media professionals with their own unique perspective on the news.

The “Inside Media” series, for example, will take place throughout the months of May and June. Guests will include host Patricia Beard discussing her new book on the Scripps-Howard news empire, television correspondent Lesley Stahl discussing her new book on grandparenting, and author Judith Meredith, who researched the legacy of the civil rights movement. Any ticket purchase gives you two days of access to the museum, so you can make a full weekend of it —spend one evening attending an Inside Media event, and then take the following afternoon to browse the exhibits at your leisure.
